Thousands of people want to help

Thousands of people want to help the dogs of Greenland

Hundreds of animal protection organizations in 58 countries have started campaigns to help the sled dogs of Greenland which are being neglected and abused.

Animal activists all over the world have reacted strongly, after Ekstrabladet.dk  published several articles regarding how the sled dogs of Greenland are starved;  left out in stormy and cold weather, or are left to their own fate if they are injured during a sled ride.

Animal organisations all over the world have taken up the case to inform people about the dog’s suffering; have sent protest letters, or collected signatures to be sent on to Greenlandic and Danish politicians.  There have been thousands of protests and signatures from animal activists in Western and Eastern Europe, USA, Canada, and several countries in South America

The Canadian Voice for Animals Foundation CVFAF has taken the initiative with petitions in several countries, and the goal is to achieve at least 10.000 signatures which can be sent to the governments of Greenland and Denmark.

 Earle Bingley, president of CVFAF statement to Ekstrabladet.dk

In all my days of animal activism, I have never seen anything that is so blatantly cruel. Greenland and Denmark have become miscreant governments for allowing this horror to continue for decades and now that they have been exposed, steps could possibly be taken to finally enforce the existing animal welfare laws.

Only a few days after Extrabladet's report of the dog’s condition and the day after the government had set up a working group to look at the problem, two sled dogs were found hanged in Ilulissat, as reported  the Greenlandic media

KNR

The working group that consists of both ,animal welfare organizations and veterinarians, will look at the conditions of the existing dog places where the dogs live for most of their lives. The group is also looking at setting up rules for anyone in Greenland who may require sled dogs.

ONE DOG AND NINE PUPS WERE VICIOUSLY BEATEN TO DEATH,

ONLY ONE SURVIVED AND WAS GIVEN THE NAME HOPE;

IT IS NOT KNOWN IF THIS PHOTO IS FROM GREENLAND

TO BE FAIR, IT APPEARS THAT GREENLAND IS TAKING OUR CAMPAIGN

SERIOUSLY AND ARE TAKING STEPS TO RIGHT A WRONG.
