The sled dogs of Greenland need help from you and I

When I first heard of the conditions of the Greelandish dogs from a Danish tourist in Greenland I was nothing but chocked. I thought - as most other Danes - that the dogs in Greenland lived in harmony with the people who owned them, respected them and was dependent of them in all their living. But as my research grew I realized that several media in Greenland for years had tried to shout out the problems to the world, as did the venerations and police. Without anybody listening it seemed.

I also realized that nobody was willing to take a responsibility for the cruelty. Everyone told me someone else was guilty - the dog owners, the society, the climate changes or something else. I'm still not sure who is responsible for the mistreatment of these animals but I am very, very sure that something must be done to improve the lives of these fascinating creatures. As a Dane - or as a human being - I cannot accept that my fellow beings are treated the way these dogs are treated by humans. Neither should you. For that reason I hope you will join this campaign and tell the politicians that something must be done. It is our responsibility. Yours and mine.

I believe we can make a difference if we try hard enough. For Greenland’s dogs, and for the rest of the suffering animals in this world.

Dear Mr. Prime Minister Enoksen:

        I have been informed by the Canadian Voice for Animals that your government is setting up a working group to look into the problem of animal abuse by your citizens. I, of course, am referring to the horrible abuse the sled dogs of your country suffer at the hands of their owners.

       This, Mr. Prime Minister is a giant step for your country, in that it will tell the world that Greenland is prepared to step into the 21^st century.  I have read some of the articles sent out by Mr. Kleist and I can assure you sir, global warming is no excuse for animal abuse, and the fact that your citizens are poor, again, is not a viable excuse for any form of abuse.

      I sincerely hope that you will keep everyone who has written to you informed of the progress of the working group by keeping the CVFA informed of your actions.
