This case highlights a much larger problem for "livestock" animals who are
discovered in rural abuse and neglect cases. The dog on the property was
taken to the local Humane Society, but the cows, goats, sheep, and chickens
were taken right back to the livestock auction.
Who made that fateful decision? Was it the Sherriff's office? Was it the
local Humane Society who was involved in the case? Who profited off of the
sale of the animals' lives? Where are the animals now? Why is it nearly
impossible for the public and Peaceful Prairie Sanctuary to get prompt and
honest answers to these questions when that information could have saved
animals' lives? How will these cases be handled in the future? Why has the
pubic trust been so violated while no one is held accountable? These are very
important questions that have NOT been answered.
When the media reports that the surviving animals have been confiscated by
the authorities, or relinquished to the authorities who are in charge of
filing and pursing abuse and neglect charges, the public is led to believe
that the animals are now in safe and protective custody.
The media has failed to report the actual fate of the animals who have had
no protection and the one and only opportunity at a true life of rescue,
peace, and life-long tender care by Peaceful Prairie Sanctuary, has been
denied to them, despite PPS's tireless efforts at locating the animals.
